Clik here to view. The Muskegon Area Promise Authority (MAPZA) Board and staff would like to inform you all of a decision made by our Board recently that will positively effect several students county wide!
Currently the MAPZA defines academic eligibility for the Promise Scholarship using an unweighted cumulative GPA scale of 3.5 or higher. In an effort to support challenging course work attempted by students in the Muskegon area, and promote the college going culture we aim for, the MAPZA is fully committed to approving appeals that include proof of rigor and excellence from students enrolled in Advanced Placement and/or Dual Enrollment courses.
Weighted GPA calculations are in place within many schools served by the MAISD for this very reason! Students who have an unweighted GPA below the 3.5, but a weighted GPA at or above the 3.5, should consider and write to the MAPZA for appeal this spring!
Appeals must be made in writing to the MAPZA Board in a manner and form prescribed by our Board including collaboration with a high school guidance counselor, and using the Proforma Application. All appeals are due by April 30, 2017 for Board review.
